About the Training

Our 40 Hour Lead Inspector Training Class prepares you to meet all RIDOH and HUD certification requirements.

Through expert instruction and hands-on learning, you’ll gain the technical knowledge, field experience, and documentation skills required to become a certified Lead Inspector in Rhode Island.

You’ll Learn How To:

  • Conduct full visual and XRF-based inspections of interior and exterior surfaces
  • Collect and document dust, soil, and water samples per HUD protocols
  • Accurately sketch floor plans and identify sampling locations
  • Maintain proper chain of custody and submit compliant RIDOH reports
  • Interpret laboratory results and classify surfaces as Lead-Safe, Conditional, or Hazardous
  • Communicate findings clearly and professionally to clients and the Department of Health
  • Follow radiation safety and ALARA principles when using XRF analyzers

Certification & Compliance

Upon completion of this training, students will:

  • Qualify to take the Rhode Island Lead Inspector licensing exam
  • Receive documentation recognized by RIDOH, HUD, and the EPA
  • Be eligible to perform CELIs and issue official Lead-Safe Certificates once licensed
  • This is the pre-requisite course prior to an apprenticeship with an approved Training Supervisor.  See Apprenticeships
